Geoff Yang co-founded Redpoint Ventures in 1999 having previously been a General Partner with IVP since 1987. Since then he has backed companies from their founding including Arista, Ask.com, Bluefin, Calix, Efficient Frontier, Foundry Networks, Excite, Juniper Networks, Machinima, MySpace, and TiVo.
He currently serves on the boards of Redpoint portfolio companies Scribd and Rock the Bells (where he is founder/Chairman); as well as Apeiron.Life (where is founder and CEO), Esquel Group, Franklin Templeton (NYSE: BEN), SakeOno (where he is founder), Warner Bros. Discovery (NYSE: Warner Bros. Discovery). Geoff previously served as a director of AT&T (NYSE: T).
Geoff has served as a member of the Advisory Council for the Stanford Graduate School of Business, chairman of the Stanford Engineering Venture Fund, director of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), president of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists (WAVC), and a member of the President’s Information Technology Advisory Committee for the United States. He is currently an Advisory board member at McLaren Racing, Naval Postgraduate School, Princeton University, and Workday.
Geoff has a passion for sports and is the Chairman of the US Olympic and Paralympic Foundation. He is also a former officer and Executive Committee member of the U.S. Golf Association (USGA) and the US Ski and Snowboard Foundation.
He holds an MBA from Stanford University, and a BSE in Engineering from Princeton.
His favorite teams are the Golden State Warriors, the New York Giants, and McLaren Formula One.
