I joined Redpoint because…

I wanted to be a part of this team and culture. Everyone works extremely hard but doesn’t forget to have fun and be nice while doing it. We always work together to find the best course of action. From my time playing college tennis, I knew I wanted to work in a place where everyone puts the good of the team before themselves, and we definitely do that here.

What’s your favorite part about working with portfolio companies / entrepreneurs?

We are so fortunate to work with founders that are often the undisputed experts in their field. I love being able to learn from people with such deep domain expertise. It inspires me to be a better version of myself.

How do you view your role with portfolio companies?

I view my role as being always available to help with anything. If it’s 3:30 a.m. and there’s something urgent that comes up, I want to be their first call. I’m also a good sounding board to bounce ideas or problems around with.

I get excited by companies where the founders have ….

World-class engineering talent and are solving a problem I faced as an engineer.

How did your family shape your views on work?

My dad set an incredible example of how to be disciplined and work hard. I try to emulate his drive every day.

If you were to write a book, what would it be about?

It would be comparing fitness to software infrastructure. I would be the only reader.

Favorite quote or saying?

We are what we repeatedly do; excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

First concert you went to / band you saw live?

Backstreet Boys ’00. They flew in on surfboards.

What is your favorite hobby/outside of venture, how do you spend your time?

I love CrossFit because it is easy to track. In life it is often very challenging to measure your progress. I find it satisfying to have at least one thing where I know for sure that I’m a little bit better today than I was yesterday.

What makes Redpoint unique?

Empathy. I think we have incredible empathy for founders and the journey they are on as well as each other, in part because we all have operating experience. That operating experience also makes us a great team —

What is the best trip you’ve taken and why?

Surf trip to Indonesia. Amazing people and amazing waves.

What job would you be doing if you were not a VC?

Software engineer! I like to pretend I can still code by working on small side projects.
